Receive recommendations for therapy, accommodations, or other resources
Understanding Yourself Starts Here
Many adults spend years wondering why certain things feel so much harder for them than for other people. Why tasks pile up despite good intentions. Why focus disappears the moment it matters most. Why the same to-do list gets rewritten again and again and nothing gets done.
You may have been told it’s laziness, or anxiety, or simply a lack of discipline. But for many adults, there is a neurological explanation. And knowing it changes everything.
At Coping Resource Center, we provide comprehensive ADHD assessments for adults that go beneath the surface. Our evaluations are thorough, individualized, and delivered with genuine care, because clarity is not just clinically useful. It is a relief.
Understanding is the first step to real support.
ADULT ADHD TESTING IN HOUSTON
What Is an Adult ADHD Assessment?
An adult ADHD assessment is a structured, in-depth evaluation of your attention, executive functioning, cognitive processing, and emotional regulation. It combines clinical interviews, standardized testing, questionnaires, and observational data to build a comprehensive picture of how your brain works and where targeted support may help most.Assessments can identify, clarify, or rule out conditions such as:
Adult ADHD (Inattentive, Hyperactive-Impulsive, or Combined presentation)
Executive functioning difficulties
Processing speed and working memory differences
Co-occurring anxiety or mood disorders that can mimic or complicate ADHD
Learning differences that interact with attention challenges
Other cognitive or neurodevelopmental conditions
The goal is not simply to label. It’s to give you, and those who support you, a fuller and more accurate understanding of who you are and what you need.
How Do You Know If You Might Benefit?
Assessment may be a good fit if you:
- Have long suspected you might have ADHD but were never evaluated as a child
- Struggle with focus, organization, or follow-through in ways that significantly affect your work or daily life
- Start projects with enthusiasm but consistently find them unfinished weeks later
- Experience chronic overwhelm, time blindness, or difficulty prioritizing tasks
- Want to pursue workplace accommodations, academic supports, or disability documentation
- Simply want a clearer understanding of how your brain works

Questions About Adult ADHD Assessments
What if I think it might be anxiety, not ADHD?
A comprehensive assessment is specifically designed to untangle these overlapping presentations and give you an accurate picture of what is actually driving your experience. In many cases, both conditions are present, and knowing that changes your treatment plan significantly.
Do I need a referral to be assessed?
How long does the process take?
Most adult ADHD assessments involve an intake session, one or two testing appointments, and a feedback session, typically spanning three to four weeks in total.
Is ADHD testing covered by insurance?
We are an out-of-network provider. We can provide a superbill for reimbursement submission to your insurance, and we also work with Thrizer, a service that helps clients navigate out-of-network claims. We encourage you to check with your insurer about your out-of-network benefits before beginning.
What happens after testing?
You will receive a full written report and a thorough feedback session to review your results and recommendations. Depending on your situation, next steps might include therapy, medication consultation, workplace accommodations, or referrals to additional specialists.
