Living with chronic pain is debilitating

Living with persistent pain or a chronic condition can feel like a full-time job.

Unlike recovering from a brief illness or an acute injury—where you rest and expect to return to “normal”—chronic conditions rarely follow a straight line. You may spend your days balancing medical appointments, managing medications, tracking flare-ups, and constantly adjusting your life around your energy levels.

You don’t have to go through this alone.

CHRONIC PAIN & ILLNESS THERAPY IN HOUSTON

Questions About Chronic Pain Therapy

No, getting psychological help for long-lasting pain doesn’t mean your pain is all in your head or caused by mental issues. We believe chronic pain usually comes from a physical problem. Sometimes even after the medical issue has resolved the pain is still there. While the pain is likely from a physical cause, we know psychological factors can affect how bad it feels. Our aim is to tackle those factors to help you find relief and manage the pain long-term.
Often pain and mood affect each other. This means that pain can cause a lot of distress in your life, and when you are in distress your pain can feel worse. Stress, anxiety, sadness, depression, anger, and frustration all make you feel worse both mentally and physically. By learning ways to improve your mood, you can feel better overall and decrease the intensity of your pain.
Usually, treatment lasts for about 10-12 sessions, but it can be different for each person depending on what they need and how fast they want to go. Our treatment is flexible, so we can adjust it based on what works best for you. It’s important to keep going regularly to get the best results. At first, we’ll meet every week, but as you start feeling better, we can meet less often. The goal is for you to finish treatment feeling better and ready to move forward. But if you ever need to come back for a check-up or extra support, we’re here for you.
Pain is a necessary function of the body that alerts us to any tissue damage. Without pain, we would not know when we are sick or hurt. The goal of this treatment is to better manage pain that is no longer serving a purpose and to help you build a richer, fuller, more meaningful life.
Our team is specially trained to teach you strategies that have been scientifically proven to help those struggling with chronic pain get relief, improve their mood, and enhance their quality of life. While there are no guarantees, we feel confident that if you are willing to incorporate these strategies into your daily routine you will start to see improvement quickly.
